LOL Opening Information

This all feels so counterintuitive. Here we are setting up lists of very specific rules for how to conduct ourselves in a program that was built on community closeness, individuality, and our sole “rule” of respect. It doesn’t feel right. This is not how we would choose to run our program, but for now, it is necessary. Please join us in being uncomfortable for a bit by abiding by these guidelines to show your respect for our community and others in general. Your cooperation will help others to remain healthy and for LOL to remain open. We can be creative and find gifts in this situation. We are sure of it!

An Innovative Approach to Education

Leaves of Learning (LOL) is an innovative, highly successful educational program for students ages 3-18. Since 1997 we have offered Cincinnati area families a unique education option. 92% of our graduates go on to college. Our program nurtures students' development, encourages respect for others, and fosters students’ ability to observe, question, evaluate, and make decisions.

While all students at LOL are considered homeschoolers, some attend LOL fulltime, doing little to no schooling at home, while others attend classes to supplement their curriculum. With over 100 classes to choose from, families can design their own program, based on each child's individual needs.

At LOL, we believe that an environment of trust, cooperation, and mutual respect encourages students to become independent thinkers and responsible contributors to an ever-changing, multicultural world. To accomplish this, we combine traditional educational goals with progressive teaching strategies.

“I really don’t think there is anything as special as what we have at LOL. I wish every child in the world could be so lucky as to have this sort of education.”

— Jenny H., LOL Parent

Important Messages

LOL Covid-19 Plan
It is our goal to return to in-person classes on Sept. 29th. We have plans in place that are safe, respectful, and that preserve the sense of a loving community. Please read the details by clicking the link in the banner at the top of the page.

Reason for Delayed Start
A delayed start will give us the advantage of watching and learning from the experiences of other schools and universities, who will have been open since mid-Aug. This will allow us to make educated adjustments and changes to our plans as needed.

In-person Start-up Criteria
The local infection rate must be 5% or lower and testing must be readily available.

Safety Features
Mask-wearing will be a major part of our safety protocol. All students (not including Little Sprouts), teachers and staff will need to wear a mask when inside the building. Mask breaks will be interwoven into the day.

Safety
All teachers and staff will attend training so that we can keep everyone as safe as possible with consistency and calm.

Safety Features
We will make use of our large classrooms and small class sizes to spread out. Windows will be open as much as possible. Additional, supervised, outside space will be opened for lunches and classes.

Safety Features
Each classroom will be equipped with a high quality air purifier. Class dismissals will be staggered to limit hallway traffic. Drop-off and pick-up protocols will be modified.

Safety Features
We ask parents to be vigilant about keeping children home who exhibit ANY signs of illness.
